Recent data from the mobile analytics firm Flurry has found that during Christmas, application downloads spike for mobile devices. Year after year the amount of downloaded applications continues to rise, as the number of downloaded applications increased by 11 percent on this year’s Christmas compared to Christmas of last year. Flurry was also able to point out that social applications and games are amongst the most downloaded applications during the holiday season. Entertainment, photo, video, and music applications all saw a rise on Christmas day as well when compared to other days throughout the month of December. However, Flurry noted that even though the total number of application downloads has increased year after year, the overall growth is starting to slow down as more mobile devices become adopted. As mobile devices continue to be sold to consumers in various markets, the number of application downloads are expected to continue to rise even though growth will start to level off in coming years.
