After the announcement that SAMSUNG will be delivering next-generation televisions with intuitive features at CES next year, the technology giant has now released its new Smart television SDK. The new SDK, named Smart TV SDK 5.0, will allow users to control network enabled appliances from their television. Some examples of appliances that could be controlled include lighting and refrigerators, though any appliance that is connected to a network could theoretically be controlled as well. SAMSUNG’s Smart TV SDK 5.0 also provides a new web framework that now supports HTML 5 and makes use of Native Client in order to execute software that can be ran on televisions. A beta version of the SDK is currently available with the final version being planned for release on January 6, 2014.
