During the upcoming CES, which will occur in January of next year, SAMSUNG will unveil its next-generation lineup of Smart televisions. The new televisions will include expanded voice integration service, a new gesture mode that makes use a single finger, and enhanced usability features. Currently the voice interaction service provided by SAMSUNG is available in 11 countries, but the service will expand into 12 more markets during next year. Television functions such as opening applications, searching, and surfing channels will become much easier. Concerning the finger gesture interface, SAMSUNG’s new Smart televisions will allow users to use their finger to change the channel, adjust volume, or find and select a program. There is no mention of what gesture will allow the aforementioned features to occur, but it has been noted that a counterclockwise finger gesture will stop video playback and return the user to the previous screen. SAMSUNG hopes that the new features found within their next-generation Smart televisions will enable customers to enjoy their televisions more intuitively, according to Kyungshik Lee, Senior Vice President of the Service Strategy Team of Visual Display Business at the company.
