Kingdom Come: Deliverance Promises to be a Different Kind of RPG
In a teaser trailer released a few days ago, Prague-based indie game studio Warhorse makes a simple yet bold statement: "Prepare for a different kind of RPG." Kingdom Come: Deliverance will be the studio's debut title – a first-person, open-world, realistic RPG set in medieval Europe. That "realistic" aspect is what's "different" about it compared to other RPGs – this isn't a fantasy RPG, so don't expect magic or dragons or other mythical creatures.
Harnessing the power of CryEngine 3, there will be first-person melee combat, horseback combat, castle sieges, and large-scale battles. To go along with the open world RPG nature, there will be a nonlinear narrative, character progression, and a relationship/reputation system. Not much else has been divulged, but Warhorse plans to provide further details on January 20th, complete with a handy countdown timer on the main site.
The game is planned for "PC and next gen platforms" but not until 2015, so we have quite the wait in front of us.
