The new Atom USB 3.0 flash drive from Mushkin has an appearance that matches its name, with the storage portion of the drive barely extending past the connector. The drive is capable of read and write speeds that range from 80MB/s and 5.5MB/s, respectively, for the 8GB model to 155MB/s and 21.5MB/s, respectively, for the 32GB model. The drives are also very efficient with the 8GB model topping out at 0.905W under load and the 32GB model requiring just 0.2475W when idle. The drives are fully backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 for users without access to the high speed USB 3.0 ports. Director of Product Management Brian Flood said, "For our users who regularly use slimmer, portable devices such as tablets, the Atom is a definite solution when you need extra storage on a daily basis."
