Facebook has recently revealed via a statement that it will be incorporating video advertisements within users news feeds. This feature could possibly bring in an additional $8.4 billion per year in revenue, according to analysts at Oppenheimer. Currently the program is being tested with a small number of Facebook users who will be marketed to during this week. It is not yet known when this specific advertisement revenue opportunity will be pushed out to the masses, but Facebook is reassuring users that the advertisements will not be bothersome. The video advertisements, which will play automatically when scrolled upon within news feeds, will be silenced until a user clicks the video.

Additionally, Facebook stated that the advertisements will only be downloaded when on a WiFi network in order to save on mobile data usage. Users who do not want to view the videos are being advised to scroll past them in their news feed.
