DayZ Standalone Arrives on Steam Early Access

It's been a long time coming, but the standalone version of DayZ has finally arrived on Steam Early Access. Interested gamers can pick up the game for $29.99, which grants you immediate access to the open-world zombie survival horror, albeit in alpha form right now. There are going to be bugs and potentially some serious issues (so says the developer), but you're also supporting development to ensure DayZ is the very best it can be. What originally started as a mod for Arma II is evolving so far beyond that stage. You can explore 230 square kilometers of Chernarus, a "post soviet state" complete with forests, villages, abandoned military bases, and plenty more to discover. Of course there are also zombies to contend with and even 39 other players per server who may or may not be friendly.

DayZ is projected to reach beta in another year, with features like playable vehicles, player-created constructions, improved graphics, and more planned. Right now there's still plenty of customization and crafting, as well as persistent player data, so it's a pretty involved alpha. It looks pretty great already, so you can only imagine what the improved graphics will be like in another year. So, if you want to jump into the standalone version of DayZ and experience true survival horror, you know what to do with your $30.
