ASRock has long been in the shadow of some of the larger motherboard manufacturers, but the company seems to be fed up with this position, and it is now doing what it can to gain the attention of the enthusiast consumers with the new Z87 Extreme 11 /TB20. The motherboard, which was shown at IDF 2013, is made specifically to cater to the most hardcore of the overclockers. It uses two 8 pin power connectors to ensure that enough clean power is being supplied during LN2 overclocking and a 12 phase, high quality VRM to allow for those high overclocks. The motherboard also features three PCI-E 3.0 x1 slots, four PCI-E x16 slots, two Thunderbolt ports, plenty of USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, dual GbE LAN ports, along with many other features. One of the things that really stand out though is the number of SATA ports. 22 SATA 6 Gbps ports are placed on the board to ensure that no one will ever lack a SATA port. For video output there is both HDMI and DisplayPort, and for audio the motherboard houses an A-Style Purity Sound chip. All of the above listed features fit neatly onto a large XL-ATX board.
