Corsair, one of the leaders in pretty much anything related to computers, has launchd a new line of power supplies: the RM Series. It's an ultra-quiet PSU line that's designed to replace the existing TX Series, yet bumps the energy efficiency up to 80 PLUS Gold. The RM Series makes use of a Zero RPM Fan Mode, which spins the fan only when a heavy load is detected. Anything else and you'll have virtually silent operation, although it should be pretty quiet even when running since the custom-designed fan is meant to be super quiet. All of the RM Series PSUs feature high quality components for long-term reliability and stable power, and all are fully modular with low-profile cables for an easier routing time. Corsair is also going to sell individually sleeved cables in a variety of colors for anyone who wants a more customized appearance.

Capacities on the Corsair RM Series range from 450 to 1000 watts, with the 450W priced at $99.99, the 550W at $109.99, the 650W at $119.99, the 750W at $129.99, the 850W at $159.99, and the 1000W at $199.99. Each model includes a five-year warranty and should be available later this month. The 1000W model also includes a Corsair Bridge Cable to connect to a motherboard or Corsair Link hub for real-time monitoring. The Bridge Cable is optional for the other models, so you don't have to miss out on any readings.

So the RM series is going to be for "Hardcore Gamers" just as the TX was? A bit overpriced.
