Intel already provides the processing power behind Apple desktops and laptops, and now hopes to break into the mobile offerings from Apple such as iPhones and iPads. Intel is fighting an uphill battle to match the low power of ARM based CPUs that are currently used in the majority of mobile devices. The latest rumor has Intel getting its products into Apple devices, but not in the manner that it would like. Intel is rumored to take on up to 10% of Apple A-Series manufacturing through its foundry business. Lead analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy Patrick Moorhead said, "Many more competitors like Samsung and Huawei are now designing their own SoCs, and in Samsung's case, manufacturing them. This mitigates Apple's design advantage and they now need something different to be competitive and that 'something' is Intel's 14-nm capabilities."
