Acer Looks to Refocus Business Model Going Forward

Acer is planning to change things up and begin to increase focus on creating products that are "beyond the PC." The company will close down the eMachines division while refocusing the Gateway and Packard Bell divisions. Acer acquired all three companies in 2007 as part of its purchase of Gateway for $710 million. Some possible new products for Gateway and Packard Bell include tablets, smart TVs, and media streaming boxes. Acer spokeswoman Lisa Emard said, "As computing devices are used in new ways, both on the go and throughout the home, Gateway and Packard Bell will adapt their product portfolios to meet these needs."

Japhetybaba on February 8, 2013 01:57AM I can't speak to this model specifically, but I do know that Acer makes eelnlcext products that hold up very well. After looking at the specifications for the laptop on Wal-Mart's website, this looks to be a great value for the money. The hardware specifications are pretty impressive for the price point, and I think that you'd do well to purchase the laptop. The only concern I have about it is the battery. Wal-Mart's website lists the battery as a 6-cell battery when you'd probably do better with a 9-cell. However, a 9-cell battery can be purchased separately and my opinion of the battery shouldn't impact your decision. reply to this
