Belkin to Buy Cisco's Home Networking Business Unit, Includes Linksys

It was just last month when Cisco was looking for a buyer for Linksys and its home networking division. That search is now over, as Belkin has announced it will purchase Cisco's Home Networking Business Unit, which brings all of Linksys' products, technology, employees, and of course the name under its roof. Belkin intends to keep Linksys just as it is and even offer support for all existing products so long as there is a valid warranty. The deal is expected to close in March, even though neither Cisco or Belkin are talking about a purchase price. Still, once it all goes through, Belkin will make up 30% of all home and small business networking market, which is pretty staggering when you consider it. Linksys is one of the most well known names in the networking area, so having it stay alive through Belkin is welcome news.
