Intel has announced that the company is planning to close its Desktop Motherboard Business as part of a company realignment and resource reallocation. Employees will be moving to other divisions in the company where they will be able to focus on emerging form factors such as Ultrabook and small form factors computers. It will take three years for the company to fully ramp down this division, and the company willl continue to work on Intel's Form Factor Refernce Design to help partners continue to provide quality products. The motherboards associated with fourth generation Core products to be released this year will be the last new boards developed by Intel.
