Seagate has revealed a new network backup solution in advance of the CES trade show, Seagate Central Shared Storage. This low profile solution offers automatic backup to all networked devices and also provides the option to access the storage from devices external to the network. Seagate sought to create a backup solution that was easy to use, and created a software solution to reach this goal with compatibility for both Windows and Mac OS X systems. This solution creates a central location for all networked computers and also adds the ability to backup photos and videos from sites like Facebook. Seagate will also provide applications for several other platforms including iOS, Android, and Samsung Smart TVs. The Seagate Central Shared Storage is a 2013 CES Innovation Honoree and will be available in March. Available capacities are 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB with prices of $189.99, $219.99, and $259.99.
