Last week Gerry Smith, president of Lenovo's North America region, pointed out that the company and industry as a whole had underestimated the demand for touchscreen devices. Lenovo has now officially announced the X1 Carbon Touch, a touchscreen ultrabook running Windows 8. This laptop has similar features to the X1 Carbon with a 14-inch screen, Intel i5 or i7 processors, and weighs half a pound more than its non-touch counterpart. Lenovo estimates that a battery life of just over eight hours is possible. The $1,399 price tag is $150 more than the standard X1 Carbon.
