3,600 iPad Mini Units Stolen From JFK, Worth Over $1.5 Million
Reminiscent of the 1978 Lufthansa heist from the movie 'Goodfellas', over $1.5 million worth of Apple iPad Minis were stolen from John F. Kennedy International airport Monday night. According to authorities, two thieves were able to gain access to one of the storage bays and use a forklift to move two pallets full of iPad Mini units, which had just arrived from China for retail distribution. The thieves fled soon after an airport employee returned from break, leaving three pallets behind. Law enforcement believes the heist was an inside job and are currently questioning airport personnel for more information. Police say they have no leads or suspects at this time.
