A recently posted video has shed some light on Valve's new project, and it confirms that the studio is indeed working on a brand new version of its stellar Source engine. Rumblings on a Source 2 engine first surfaced with some teasing references when the Source Filmmaker app made its appearance. Thanks to lucky 4chan.org participants who dropped by the software company's HQ during Gabe Newell's birthday celebration, a conversation with the Valve co-founder validated the rumor. This isn't simply a retooling of what's already available in Source, as it will be something built from the ground up. "We’ve been working on new engine stuff for a while," Newell was reported as saying. What's even more exciting is which game will spearhead this new engine, although nothing concrete was mentioned. "We’ve just been waiting for a game to roll it out with."
