The times are certainly changing up in Redmond, and none more so evident than this piece of news. According to a new report, Microsoft will launch an iOS and Android version of Microsoft Office in 2013. The new version is dubbed, simply enough, Office Mobile, and features a free app for Android and iOS users to view documents. A Microsoft account is required, like the OneNote and SkyDrive apps, and you'll be prompted to login when first launching the app. Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files will all be easily viewed, but an Office 365 subscription is required to perform any edits. An in-app subscription purchase is supported on iOS (no word on Android), but sadly only basic editing can be done. This won't replace a desktop version of Office to be sure, but it's something at least.

Microsoft did not reveal an exact date for Office Mobile on Android and iOS, but it's believed the iOS version will arrive in late February/early March and Android in May.
