Motorola and Microsoft have had a lovely legal dispute for some time now, but a new development in the case may signal a possible resolution. Motorola has dropped the WiFi-related patent claims from its ITC complaint against Microsoft's Xbox 360, but is keeping the H.264 claims for now. The case is scheduled to go to trial in December, but don't be surprised if it doesn't reach that far. Ever since Google acquired Motorola Mobility, the number of legal complaints have been dropping, possibly because Google wants to focus on protecting Android instead of being on the aggressive. Microsoft does state it's part of a reciprocal license between Google and MPEG LA over the H.264 claims, so we'll see what comes of that.
