MSI is sprucing up its notebook lineup with an upgrade to Microsoft's ubiquitous Windows 8, just in time for the new OS' launch. The OS refresh includes MSI's gaming-oriented powerhouses, the 15.6-inch MSI GT60 and 17.3-inch GT70. Those who already own or are planning to buy any of MSI's Windows 7 laptops from the entry level GE, the AMD-powered GX series, or performance-oriented GT line all qualify for a free upgrade to Windows 8, with an optional $15 extra charge if Windows 8 Pro sounds like a better choice. Specs-wise, both the GT70 ($2,599) and GT60 ($1,899) sport a Core i7-3610QM CPU, and the choice to splurge on a GTX680M with 4GB of VRAM for that extra graphics oomph. The larger GT70 can handle more RAM at 16GB total along with three hard disks, while its smaller sibling tops at 12GB RAM and a single 750GB hard drive. According to MSI, moving to Windows 8 will offer an increase in system performance, although we'll have to wait for the benchmarks to arrive before getting to any conclusions.
