The PlayStation 3 will receive the 4.30 console update next month, and with it comes the end of support for the Folding@Home project. This project was started by Stanford University as a way to use distributed computing to conduct research into diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. When the PS3 was released, it allowed users to perform the calculations on it, and more than 15 million PS3 owners contributed over the years. This adds up to more than 100 million hours, coming in second to Windows machines. As long as I have been coming to OCC we have had a Folding@Home team. If you would like to find out how you can help, visit our Folding@Home page.
