Intel Sees Drop in Revenue and Profits for Last Quarter

Intel recently released its third quarter fiscal report, and the numbers tend to reflect the state of the economy. Profits were at $2.97 billion for the quarter ending on September 29, which was down from $3.47 billion last year. Revenue was down to $13.5 billion from $14.2 billion, although analysts expected it to be a little lower at $13.2 billion. Intel's PC Client Group, the side responsible for consumer chips, saw revenue drop eight percent to $8.6 billion, while the Data Center Group, which handles server chips, saw a six percent increase for a record $2.7 billion revenue. All in all though, the financial numbers for the entire PC market are not great. AMD had to revise its revenue forecast for the third quarter, just like Intel did, but the arrival of Windows 8 on October 26 is expected to provide a boost.
