Apple has announced it'll be holding a special event on October 23 in San Jose, California, at 10am PDT. The company did not announce anything more for the event except to say it has a "little more to show," but it's widely expected to be the product launch for the rumored iPad Mini. A smaller iPad was said to launch in October, and this special event lines up nicely. The new tablet is expected to have a seven or eight inch screen to better compete with the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Google Nexus 7, but it may not feature a Retina Display like the third version of the iPad. A price and other details are likewise up in the air, although some analysts expect the smaller iPad to be around the $300 mark. Hopefully if Apple does officially announce the smaller tablet, it will carry a different name than iPad Mini, but we have just about a week to go to find out for certain.
