Call of Duty Elite Service Now Free
When Activision launched the Call of Duty Elite service, it attached a $50 subscription fee for the year. Gamers that purchased these subscriptions gained early access to downloads such as map packs, which were then made available to all at a later time. The new system for Call of Duty: Black Ops II will price map packs at $15 each, or $50 for a season pass. The DLC will still be made available to Xbox 360 owners first with PS3 and PC owners following. Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg stated, "What we have realized is that several of the Call of Duty Elite services which are currently only available to our premium members for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are things that would further unite, engage and delight our player community. So we are going to make them free for Call of Duty: Black Ops II."
