The NPD numbers for September have arrived, and if you're surprised at what a little game from Gearbox Software pulled, well, you aren't paying enough attention. Borderlands 2 sold nearly 1.5 million copies in its launch month, which is impressive when you consider the game didn't even launch until September 18. A total of 1.48 million copies were sold, which includes all retail ones on the PC, PS3, and 360; so none of the video card bundled versions are counted. Still, those 1.48 million sales is a 234% increase over what Borderlands 1 sold in its launch month in October, 2009, according to NPD analyst Anita Frazier. That is simply a staggering increase, but kind of expected considering how many people were waiting for the sequel. I'm sure the sales numbers for Borderlands 2 will continue to grow, especially when you factor in the DLC, like the recently released Mechromancer and upcoming Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty.
