Vampires! is an action puzzle game that tasks you with guiding vampires safely to their caskets before dawn. But like many great games, your task is a lot harder than it sounds. Along the way, you'll encounter numerous traps ranging from sun light to silver bullets to hired assassins and much more. There are also six different types of vampires, each with their own behavior, like always turning left at an intersection.

Vampires! is sort of like a reverse tower defense game, but unlike the game Anomaly: Warzone Earth, you cannot attack towers. In fact, you do not even have direct control over the vampires you're saving. Instead, your powers reside in your magical ability to rotate colored tiles, along with some special skills like garlic repellent. It's a simple premise that quickly turns to chaos as the levels get progressively more complicated and difficult.

The full game will feature 65 levels. Each level has three "degrees of level completion." To earn a gold medal, you must satisfy the requirements set forth for each level, as to the minimum number of vampires that must be saved, the maximum number of rotations made, and the maximum amount of time taken. The silver medal requirements are less stingy, while simply beating it rewards you with no medal, but does allow you to progress to the next level.

A demo is currently available, featuring 16 levels, so I definitely suggest checking it out. In fact, you don't even have to download anything, as there's a Unity web version, which is how I played. Not only will you get a taste for the game, but developer CBE Software is also currently holding a skills competition. The first three players to attain all the achievements (including the secret ones) and answer a simple question about the game will receive a DRM-free version of Vampires! for PC and Mac, as well as a signed boxed copy of J.U.L.I.A. for PC. The next ten players will receive just the DRM-free version of Vampires! for PC and Mac. Although the contest began on Tuesday, no winners have been announced on Facebook yet, so you may still have time!

A game about vampires may not seem like it's for everyone, but the subject matter simply masks a fun, casual puzzle game, not to mention the game has a very cartoony feel that should appeal to gamers of all ages. Vampires! offers up some unique gameplay and is thus very deserving of a "Yes" vote on Greenlight. Oh, and did I mention it'll be playable on PC, Mac, and Linux?
