Toshiba Announces Canvio Slim
Toshiba has announced a new external hard drive, the Canvio Slim, that has incredibly small dimensions, less than an index card in area, while remaining just 0.35 inches thick. The 500GB drive will retail for $115 and will be compatible with both Windows and Mac computers, and presumably Linux as well. It is being marketed towards Ultrabook users, and Toshiba VP Maciek Brzeski said, “As consumer electronics continue to get thinner, lighter, and more portable, we recognized a huge demand to create a storage device that is in line with those trends." As far as connectivity goes, the Canvio Slim will feature USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 and is expected to hit store shelves in October.
