Dragon's Dogma is set to receive a new expansion next year, as Capcom announced Dark Arisen as a "full-blown major expansion." Capcom's RPG released this past May to widespread critical acclaim, with the studio planning to turn it into a franchise. The Dark Arisen expansion is light on details currently, but there is a teaser trailer provided below. Not much is shown in the teaser aside from a few short gameplay clips, although it sounds like a major mystery will unfold as the last text states, "An epitaph speaks of another's demise." The only downside to this is gamers need to wait until next year to unravel its secrets. To try and appease everyone until then, Capcom will release two free updates later this year.
The first update adds a Speedrun mode that requires players to move through the game world as fast as possible. In-game equipment will be offered, provided various time objectives are met. The second update adds a Hard mode to Dragon's Dogma, which ups the difficulty level on the monsters. More equipment will be offered for successfully completing Hard mode, so there could be a good risk/reward incentive for trying it out. No details were provided on when either update will arrive, but both should hopefully be here before the year is out.
