Skywind Mod Seeks to Bring Morrowind into Skyrim - Screenshots and Video Included
The Elder Scrolls series has been mod friendly for a long time now, with Construction Sets and Creation Kits to add, alter, or replace just about anything you can think of in the games. The latest TES game, Skyrim, brought with it an impressive new engine that is one of the most beautiful around in an RPG (or most games). Soon after Skyrim released, gamers discovered the lands of Morrowind and Cyrodiil were included, which Bethesda's Todd Howard explained as needing to have something in the distance for people to see from the tops of mountains. There was some speculation the lands were included for future DLC (Howard even said that was a possibility), but nothing further has been said. However, the Skywind project looks to do something about that, as a team of modders are working to bring Morrowind into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Eloth, as the head modder is called, was working on Morroblivion to bring Morrowind into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but has now shifted that to Skyrim. Skywind is a team effort though, as Eloth and others are making progress on all aspects. You can check out plenty of screenshots at the source and some below, but suffice to say everything is looking impressive. The mushroom trees and unique Morrowind architecture have been faithfully recreated, as well as various animations and all exterior lights. Skywind still has a lot of work to go, but it is off to a great start. You can check out the development forum for volunteers to help move it along. Eloth and the team also have designs on bringing Oblivion into Skyrim, although it may be a while before we see that pulled off. The Imperial City has been added so far, which you can check out that video here.
