iOS 6 and Android Exploited at Pwn2Own
At the most recent Pwn2Own contest at the EUSecWest security conference in Amsterdam, the forthcoming iOS 6 mobile operating system has been exploited. The exploit created by Joost Pol and Daan Keuper of Certified Secure "exploited a WebKit vulnerability to launch a drive-by download when the target device simply surfs to a booby-trapped web site." The researchers were awarded $30,000 for this exploit, which the iPhone 5 may be susceptible to. At the same conference, researchers from MWR Labs hacked a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.0.4 by using a Near Field Communication exploit to transfer a malicious file to the device.
