Last week, Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, unveiled his new zombie action game code named Yaiba. Not much about the game was discussed at the time, but that changes today. Inafune and Team Ninja are collaborating on Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, which is a spin-off of the Ninja Gaiden series. Inafune made the announcement during Team Ninja's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference and offered a few more details on the game. Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z tells the tale of undead ninja Yaiba's quest to avenge his death by killing the one responsible: Ryu Hayabusa. Gamers may only be controlling Yaiba from the sound of it, however more information is needed to know for certain.
It is currently in development for "consoles," but there was no mention of current or next-gen. The collaboration with Team Ninja is a "dream come true" for Inafune, as it allows him to meld ninjas and zombies in one title. A new trailer for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z can be seen below where Yaiba calls out at Ryu, although much of the footage is the same from the announcement trailer last week.
