Synology Announces DS413 NAS Server for Business and Power Users

Synology is announcing the release of a new member of its DiskStation lineup of networked attached storage products with the release of the DS413. The new 4-bay unit features a new sleek case design that offers hot-swap capability along with other features geared toward the business user. The unit has hardware assisted encryption capabilities using a 256-bit AES algorithm and comes with the latest DiskStation Manager 4.1 operating system. The new DSM 4.1 features:
- Cloud Station allows remote assets to keep files up to 5GB each in sync
- QuickConnect allows for direct download links without needing port forwarding
- VPN server (and client) allows for creating secure connections between networks
- Shared folder sync between DiskStations to minimize downtime
The new Synology DS413 is also one of the greenest offering to date from Synology, consuming less than 4 watts in hibernation mode. Synology did not release any pricing or availability information as yet.
