Ubisoft May Sell Third-Party Games on UPlay to Compete with Steam and Origin
It looks like we may add another competitor in the video game digital download market, as Ubisoft may include third-party games to purchase in its UPlay store. The UPlay store underwent a revamp last month when it began selling Ubisoft titles, but Stephanie Perotti, the studio's worldwide director for online games, admitted other titles could be added in the future. This would certainly set up Ubisoft as a competitor to Valve and EA with Steam and Origin, respectively, especially when you consider UPlay's new social features and chat system. Ubisoft sees its service as something more, however, as, "the more Ubisoft games you play, the more rewards you can get, as well as several online services that players would expect," Perotti explained. It definitely looks like Ubisoft has big plans for the new UPlay, but we just have to see how everything pans out.
