On Saturday, when I unveiled my new weekly feature, Steam Greenlight Spotlight, I said that I would not include a game like Black Mesa because it "already has an extremely strong following and is all but guaranteed acceptance." I guess I was closer to the truth than even I anticipated. Today, Valve unveiled the first ten games to be making its way onto Steam based on the community voting since launch less than two weeks ago, and sure enough, Black Mesa made the cut. Here are all ten games (with links to their respective Steam Greenlight pages):

Black Mesa
Cry of Fear
Dream
Heroes & Generals
Kenshi
McPixel
No More Room in Hell
Project Zomboid
Routine
Towns

All ten games have been moved to a new section called Greenlit until they are released on Steam. Some of the greenlit titles are still works in progress, so it may be months before we see them on Steam, but others are ready for immediate release and should be on Steam shortly. I wouldn't be surprised if Black Mesa is available on Steam on or around its September 14th release.

This is a huge step toward solidifying the validity of the Greenlight program after a rocky start, which saw Valve later adding a $100 one-time submission fee. Hopefully Contrast will be on the next Greenlit list!
