Firaxis' upcoming XCOM: Enemy Unknown has about a month to go before it launches, but today we have some news that should get you excited. The system specifications for XCOM: Enemy Unknown have been revealed, and the good news is many gamers will be able to run it with ease. Well, except for Windows XP users, as Enemy Unknown requires Windows Vista or higher. The hard drive space needed is 20GB, which is rather large but still manageable. Processor and video card requirements should allow virtually everyone in, as a 2GHz dual-core processor and NVIDIA 8600 GT or ATI/AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT is all you need. You can check out the full specifications below:

Minimum Requirements
OS: Windows Vista
Software: Steam Client
Processor: 2 GHz Dual Core
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Hard Drive: 20 GB free
Video Memory: 256 MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT/ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT or greater
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Recommended Requirements
OS: Windows 7
Processor: 2 GHz Dual Core (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Athlon X2 2.7 GHz)
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Hard Drive: 20 GB free
Video Memory: 512+ MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9000 series/ATI Radeon HD 3000 series or greater
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Looking over these, your eye may catch the Steam Client requirement. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a Steamworks title, which means it will benefit from Steam Achievements, multiplayer matchmaking, auto-updating, Steam Cloud, and more. As such, Firaxis and 2K Games announced some pre-purchase rewards for the Steam version of the game. There are three separate tiers for those, with each one unlocking as more pre-purchases roll in. The first tier is already unlocked, which nets you the Classic XCOM Soldier with his blonde, flattop hairstyle, Soldier Deco packs to add some aesthetic upgrades to armor, and Complete color customization to give your squad a unique look.

The second tier, which currently is 5% of the way to being unlocked, adds a few Team Fortress 2 items. The Crafty Hair adds that blonde, flattop look to the game, while Area 451 turns the Pyro's head into something more alien. Lastly, there is the Vigilant Pin, which shows you sort of acknowledge aliens can be among us. Maybe. The third and final tier is rather straightforward, as it gives pre-purchasers a copy of Civilization V, which is giftable if you already own it. All in all, those are some pretty nice rewards for Enemy Unknown, especially if the third tier is unlocked.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown arrives on October 9 for the PC, PS3, and 360, so there is still plenty of time to unlock all the Steam rewards.
