It's been nearly two months since I first reported Edmund McMillen's The Basement Collection was coming to Steam and that day has finally arrived. Back then, it was going to include eight games, but now it includes nine: Aether (an exploration adventure game), Time Fcuk (a dark puzzle game), Spewer (a physics based platformer), Meat Boy (the Super Meat Boy prototype), Grey Matter (an anti shooter), Coil (an experimental game), Triachnid (a physics based spider sim), and two secret unlockable games. In addition, the collection includes a full collection soundtrack featuring over 30 full length tracks, over 30 minutes of audio interviews, 15 minutes of never before seen footage from Indie Game: The Movie, and over 15 pages of development sketches and character designs.
The Basement Collection can be purchased for the very low price of $3.99, but if you happen to own The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy, or Gish on Steam, you will receive a special loyalty discount of 30% from now until Monday, bringing the price down to a mere $2.79 (automatically applied if you're logged into Steam). So what are you waiting for? If any indie developer deserves your money, it's Edmund McMillen. Not convinced? Watch the release trailer below:
