New Metal Gear Solid Game and Movie on the Way

The time has finally arrived for Hideo Kojima to show off the new Fox Engine, and did he ever. During the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event, Kojima introduced the world to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, the newest entry in the stealth-action series. The new MGS game will use Kojima's Fox Engine and is an open-world title, which is a major departure from previous games. Ground Zeroes stars Snake, however that is all the character is known by, with no Solid in front. This could just be an easy way to say his name or that someone other than Solid Snake, Old Snake, or Naked Snake is the main character. Considering the younger appearance from the last time we saw him, it is possible this Snake is a clone or an impostor. Snake is sporting some nifty looking night vision goggles in the middle of a rainstorm, but unfortunately not much else can be said at this time.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes was not the only announcement from the event, as former Marvel CEO Avi Arad is producing an MGS movie. Columbia Pictures is the distributor for it, but nothing else is known right now. Hopefully Kojima and Arad can start revealing details soon, as the prospect of a Metal Gear Solid movie sounds fantastic, if pulled off properly. More information should be arriving before long for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes as well, and I imagine that will include a video from the event. Kojima has said the Fox Engine and MGSGZ are designed for the PlayStation 3 and 360, but the engine is fully capable for next-gen systems, too. The demo shown was running on a PC, so maybe there is a chance Fox Engine games will appear on the computer.
