Announcing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Hearthfire - Arrives September 4
Bethesda Game Studios have officially announced the next DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but it may not be what we were expecting. The new DLC is called Hearthfire, like the rumor said, but unlike the rumor this expansion is all about adding a buildable player home (first seen in the Game Jam video). You are able to buy a piece of land that suits your needs and then go about building a house. It can be left as a simple one room place or expanded into a sprawling estate, complete with a garden, armory, alchemy lab, stable, and more. Raw materials like quarried stones, clay, and logs can be turned into crafting items at the drafting table and craftsmen's workbench, so be sure to keep an axe and pickaxe on hand to allow for new items.
The Hearthfire DLC also lets you adopt children to raise in your new home with your spouse. Everyone can be moved into your handcrafted house and it is up to you to raise the kids right. There will also be critters and monsters trying to get into your house, and while the skeevers will not be a problem, the giants will be. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Hearthfire arrives on the Xbox 360 on September 4 and will set you back 400 Microsoft points ($5). I imagine PC gamers will receive it sometime in October, while hopefully PS3 gamers can get Dawnguard soon.
