Apple and Samsung have been locked in a long legal battle over whether Samsung had infringed upon a number of Apple patents in its smartphone products. A jury ruled yesterday that Samsung had indeed infringed on seven Apple patents and awarded Apple $1.05 billion in damages. While that is a lot of money, Samsung may be somewhat relieved as Apple had been seeking upward of $2.5 billion. Samsung had counter sued claiming that Apple had infringed on five of its patents, but was awarded no damages by the jury. A total of 24 Samsung phones were ruled to have infringed on the Apple patents, including the Galaxy S3 and Fascinate.
