Destroy Planets in Planetary Annihilation - New RTS on Kickstarter from Team Behind Super Monday Night Combat
Real-time strategy games have lost their originality of late, at least according to Super Monday Night Combat developer Uber Entertainment. The team at Uber wants to show off what RTS games can be like and has a rather ambitious goal in mind with Planetary Annihilation. The new game takes its inspiration from Total Annihilation, but instead of being confined to one planet, Planetary Annihilation lets you battle it out across a galaxy. You are able to use the resources of an entire solar system to build your army and lay waste to other planets using drop troops, an interplanetary cannon, or pulling an asteroid out of orbit. Commanding troops across a large system will be easy thanks to the order queuing interface. You can zoom in and out to a warzone with ease, while more windows can be created to check on multiple battles.
Games can be played between two to 40 players, plus you are able to hone your skills against the AI. You can even team up with a friend to take down multiple AIs. There will be plenty of maps and planets for you to battle on, but you can try your hand at making some in the procedural planet creator. Custom and randomized maps will be possible, and you will be able to share your creation with the PA community.
The Kickstarter goal for Planetary Annihilation is $900,000, but Uber Entertainment is already close to $250,000. Multiple reward tiers are available, ranging from $20 to $10,000. There is an early bird tier at $15 to get access to the $20 one, but the slots for that are filling up fast. There is another early bird tier at $95 to get you the $100 reward, which includes a full size game box, digital art book, t-shirt, and access to the game's alpha. Other tiers include beta access, a soundtrack, a unique Commander unit, a statue, and plenty more. The $10,000 one will even net you a lunch with the studio and an honorary spot on the development team.
There are 28 days remaining to fund Planetary Annihilation, so get out there and support this new RTS!
