Polish game studio People Can Fly made a name for itself with the Painkiller series of first-person shooters for the PC. The studio had a majority stake purchased by Epic Games in 2007, which resulted in Bullestorm and the currently in development Gears of War: Judgement for the Xbox 360. Now there is a new development, as Epic Games announced today it has purchased People Can Fly. The acquistion caused the departure of founder and creative director Adrian Chmielarz, artist Andrzej Poznanski and artist Michal Kosieradzki from People Can Fly, but Epic's Mark Rein said that will not impact the studio or work on Judgement. The decision to purchase the studio, and thus cause the departures, all happened within the last week, according to Rein. The three left on good terms, however, and Rein said Epic will even help Chmielarz with some "future announcements."
