It took nearly the full 35 days, but the Defense Grid 2 Kickstarter has finally surpassed its $250,000 goal, thanks in large part to AMD and Razer's collaboration. Over the past week, developer Hidden Path Entertainment has added the opportunity to acquire AMD video cards and Razer mice, and doing so definitely brought in many more backers or enticed existing backers to increase their pledge.
It's highly unlikely funding will reach any of the subsequent goals, but as originally stated, Hidden Path has once again made sure everyone knows that every backer will be getting a copy of Defense Grid 2 when it is released – it will just take a bit longer to develop than if they reached the one million dollar plateau. As stated on its Kickstarter page, "crossing $250,000 gets you DG: Containment this December, and DG2 when it is complete."
If you are one of those people who like to wait until a Kickstarter is funded to jump on board, you have a little over two days to hop on the Defense Grid 2 bandwagon before it closes. With all the additional tiers added, it's a little confusing to figure out what each tier includes, so Hidden Path has posted a very helpful chart outlining each tier. Any pledge $15 and over will still get you a Steam key for the original game. If you've never played the original game, a demo is available on Steam.
