Ouya is an Android based gaming console that was put on the Kickstarter website in order to secure development funds. The initial goal of $950,000 was crushed, with a total of $8.5 million being raised after only one month. The project was supported by contributions from 63,416 people. The company behind the console will also be releasing a software development kit (SDK) with the console, allowing anyone that can create software for the Android OS to create a game that will run on the console. Several game companies, including Square Enix, are working with the company to bring games like Final Fantasy III to the console and the video game service OnLive is also expected to join in. The Ouya is available for pre-order for $109 and is expected to release in March.
