Codemasters Announces GRID 2 - Tarmac Racing at Its Finest
Codemasters is returning to one of its more popular games, as it has just announced GRID 2. The new game will launch next year on the PC, PS3, and 360, and those lucky enough to attend Eurogamer Expo 2012 will get their first chance at playing GRID 2. Codemasters wants to "make street, track and road racing exciting again," as it treats the race as another character instead of cars on a track. This means everything that goes into the game will impact the feel and personality of a race, right down to every second. GRID 2 uses the next-generation Ego Game Technology Platform to handle the graphics, AI, handling and damage advancements to get gamers into the race on a whole new level. The game also uses the TrueFeel Handling System to "hit the sweetspot" between real and simulation.
GRID 2 takes place in Asia, Europe, and North America, with races in Paris, Abu Dhabi, Chicago, Miami, and the California coast confirmed so far. Hopefully that last one means racing along Highway 101, but we will have to see. There will be licensed circuits, mountain roads, and "fancy" city streets to race on in single player, split-screen, or online.
You can check out GRID 2 during the Eurogamer Expo 2012 in London's Earl Court from September 27 to 30. There will be a developer session on Saturday, September 29, during the Expo where Codemasters will reveal a lot more on the game. In the mean time, feel free to check out the trailer below.
