Back in June, PlayDead announced Project 2, the follow-up title to LIMBO. Project 2 is not a direct sequel to LIMBO despite some similarities, and you can add another one to that list. PlayDead said Project 2 is "at least two years away" from launch as the studio is going to take its time on the game. The same approach was used for LIMBO and PlayDead is prepared to do the same with Project 2. The studio took a lot of financial risk to ensure LIMBO released only when it was ready, but that paid off as the title became a hit. Money is never the deciding factor for PlayDead, according to studio head Dino Patti, which is always nice to see.
Aside from the longer development time, very little is known about Project 2. We know it is being built on the Unity engine, which will translate to an easier time releasing the game on more systems, and that it is "more crazy" and "more weird" than LIMBO. The art style between the two games is similar, but the story focuses on a boy struggling "against evil forces trying to take over the world through questionable experiments on human bodies." It sounds like a dark tale already, but we will just have to wait for more information, and a solid name, to see how Project 2 plays out.
