Ever since Final Fantasy XIV launched back in 2010, Square Enix has been working on it and fixing things up. FFXIV did not launch to the best reviews around, with the subscription-based MMO pretty much failing to live up to anyone's expectations. There have been a multitude of patches to the game to try and fix it, and now Square Enix is ready to launch the completely rebuilt version of the game. Square Enix has revealed Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn as the new name for version 2.0 of the MMO, which changes or upgrades nearly everything associated with the title. A new map system, new client software, a new graphics engine, an expanded role for the Chocobos, and a whole lot more has been changed in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Square Enix hopes these changes, first announced last October, will showcase its committment to the title and mark a new beginning for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will arrive on the PC and PS3 later this year or early next, with an alpha/beta planned to start in the next couple of months.
