Mushkin has been a player in the memory field for some time now. It also has a popular line of solid state drives, and today Mushkin is introducing the newest member to the family. Mushkin has announced the Catalyst Cache SSDs, which are designed to improve system performance without sacrificing storage space. The Catalyst Cache SSDs plug into an existing system to improve boot times and application launches, so these are a worthwhile upgrade for anyone not ready to splurge on an SSD. The Dataplex Cache software helps ensure that frequently accessed data and applications are cached on the SSD, while everything else remains on the hard drive. The Catalyst Cache SSDs come in 50 and 100GB capacities, and work on the SATA 6Gbps interface. Read speeds clock in at 550MB/s and write speeds at 515MB/s for the 100GB drive, while the 50GB has read speeds of 525MB/s and write speeds of 495MB/s.

The Mushkin Catalyst Cache SSDs are available now, although pricing is currently unavailable. Each drive comes with a three year warranty.
