Radical Entertainment Closes Its Doors

Sad news in the world of gaming today, as Radical Entertainment has been effectively shut down. Activision is planning a "significant reduction in staff," which will leave Radical with a few employees to support other projects at Activision. Anything currently being worked on at Radical is canceled, but the status of Prototype 2 for the PC is unknown. The game is projected to launch on July 24th, but with Radical being shut down, is there enough work done to warrant the release? The console version, despite a less than stellar game world, was the best-selling gaming in the month of April and continued to do well in May, so it is rather shocking to see the studio close. Activision said it had made a "substantial investment" in the Prototype series, but unfortunately it could not "find a broad commercial audience." Hopefully some concrete information on the closure can come out soon, but either way you look at it another studio is gone.

According to RPS the PC version is still a go for a 24th launch. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06/28/activision-slices-up-radical-prototype-2-pc-still-on-track
