The news just does not get any better for Sega. Just a few short months after announcing it will cancel games and layoff employees comes the news that Sega is closing publishing offices in Europe and Australia. Offices in France, Spain, Germany, Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg), and Australia are getting the axe effective July 1st. Distribution from these offices will be handled by Koch Media, Level03 Distribution, and 5 Star Games, while all other locations will be handled by Sega's European headquarters in London, England. Sega still remains committed to Aliens, Total War, Sonic, and Football Manager, and says the closures will help to deliver a clear focus for the company. I do not see how fewer employees will work in the long run, but if it helps keep Sega afloat then I think it is worth the risk.
