The last LEGO MMO, LEGO Universe, was a short-lived affair that had just about a year of service. The game was shut down for not having a solid revenue model, even though nearly two million gamers tried it out. Today Funcom, developer of Age of Conan and The Secret World, announced it is working on a new LEGO MMO that will focus on the minifigures and be accessible for all ages. The MMO will be "family-friendly," which is a far cry from other Funcom titles. This new MMO does not have a definitive name just yet, but Funcom is designing it to play a "prominent" role with the existing LEGO minifigure games. Currently there are several Flash games focused on the minifigures, so this new Funcom entry should expand on those to attract more gamers. Hopefully soon more information will be revealed, but I think if anyone can make a LEGO MMO work, it is Funcom.
